Sunday 1st March saw 4 of the clubs teams face each other at The Ridgeway Sports Center.
First up was the second meeting between the club’s Division 1 Men’s teams. The newly promoted Falcons took on the established Hawks looking to take revenge for their loss earlier in the season.
The game started in typical fashion with both teams winning a run of points before the other team clawed them back but as they approached the end of the first set it was Hawks who pulled away at the crucial moment taking the set. The second set was much the same but with Falcons making a number of errors, it was enough for Hawks to take the second set 25-16.
Falcons raised their game in the third set. There were some impressive rallies and great overall team play from both teams but Falcons took the set making it 2-1 overall. The fourth set followed a similar path but Falcons couldn’t quite match the levels of performance and with tiredness creeping in Hawks took the set and the match overall, 3-1.
The second match of the day saw our X-League teams face each other. The aim of the competition is to provide match experience for players who wouldn’t normally play league matched with the support from a number of more experienced players. The teams featured a total of 7 junior players who have progressed through the clubs junior section. The match was played in excellent spirits with some excellent all-round play shown by everyone. On this occasion the Dinosaurs just had enough to take the win.
As always a big thank you to the officials for giving up their time.
